The Wichita Eagle reviews Harry's Uptown!

Harry's Uptown BarAs the Eagle article by Brandi Koskie states "It's not difficult to find classic bar fare in Wichita. What is difficult to find is a place that serves classic bar fare in an environment that's anything but standard."

We knew that all along! Spend some time in the DDD and you'll notice the fun wall murals and faux palm trees in front of Harry's, once you enter you'll be thrown back to that perfect era of the neighborhood bar, where the staff is friendly, there is always someone there that you know and the drink, food and fun are plentiful. DDD Better Block Project a success!

For 2 days we completely transformed Douglas and Hydraulic into a trendy destination; one that's specifically bike and pedestrian friendly. The transformation happened on April 27 and 28, 2012. While it was only temporary we hope you liked it and hope Wichita officials will consider making some of the changes permanent. Loved the reverse parking - and who doesn't want a cross walk between The Donut Whole and Tanya's Soup Kitchen - duh!

The entire streetscape was transformed and full to the brim with musicians, pop-up retail, amazing local artists and vendors, food trucks including The Flying Stove, mmmSandwiches, B&S Sandwich Press, entertainmnet including musicians and belly dancers, and just a great time for all! Thanks to the Wichita Bicycle Master Plan and everyone on Team Better Block for making this happen.

Tanya's, Two Brothers, and Five Guys...

DDD has become a regular haven for foodies

Douglas Design District is home to many of the most unique and BEST food establishments in Wichita, and now the announcement that Five Guys Burgers & Fries has a deal to open Sept. 1 at the southwest corner of Douglas and Ida! Add this to the announcement that Tanya's Soup Kitchen is moving in across from the Donut Whole (the DW is also expanding with at new Tea Room), the recent opening of Two Brother's Barbeque at Douglas & Hillside, the re-opening of 2 eateries in Clifton Square - John Brown's and The Bay Leaf, not to mention all of our established (and fabulous) restaurants, bakeries, cafe's, coffee houses and candy stores — and you’ll see that DDD is experiencing quite a food renaissance!
