It started as an idea: bring street art to the Douglas Design District. And now, 2 years later artists are getting recognized for their work, privately commissioned murals are popping up all over town, and murals are acting as backdrops for casual photos to professional photography.
“What began with significant difficulty to get businesses’ buy-in, seen merely as permission for ‘graffiti,’ has become an accepted, sought-after and greatly valued form of public art,” said Janelle King, from The Workroom and President of Douglas Design District Board.
Come out to the Douglas Design District on September 24 to see and photograph over 20 new murals added at this years Avenue Art Days!
Catch up with a few of our favorite artists who were recently interviewed for an article in VIP Wichita Magazine.
